Why Self-Examine?
Recently, my time has been cut short by one thing or another, leaving some of my hobbies left undone. As I my schedule changes, I get more and more used to it, and I find myself not playing video games for weeks on end, or not seeing certain friends. Through this all, I’ve found myself still watching online anime, but not television. I have a DSi sitting beside my TV, ready to play, but goes untouched week after week. Nothing is getting done, including school work; what am I doing all will all of this time? A friend showed me a nice idea that will allow to go over my roles in real life as well as over the internet, so I decided to dig up the idea and give it a go. A nice visual to better understand what it is I’m putting my time into, parallel to real life and the internet.

KEY: Internet | Reality | Important | Unimportant | Neutral

Observation
When I look over this chart, I notice what? I’m neglecting the most important roles in my life. I mean really…College and a job are very important, and look at me, I’m not taking out enough time to tend to those duties. I’m still watching anime, and still creating GFX for nHotspot, things I do enjoy, but prioritizing my be needed. Important matter in real life should beat out the internet, but I let different factors in my life tell me what my priorities should be, when it should be me saying whats more important.
Diagnosis
Looking at this, I really don’t have much I should be focused on but school and….school. No one is pushing me to make GFX or review anime and watch movies, but its something I love to do. Should we invest more time and develop a “love” for the things most important in our lives, even though deep down we may find it boring? Our should we pursue what makes us happy, despite the fact it may be causing problems with real life?
I myself have to switch a few things around and I’ll be fine, but for some, they are so tied in with their schedule that they find it hard to change, and its doing them no good.
Feel free to try this examination on yourself, and see where you stand.
